A graduate of the master program in decorative sculpture from the formerly Central Academy of Craft Art in 1982, Lu Shengzhang has been producing advertisement, animation and mural painting as well as teaching and doing research. He is currently serving as a member of the Faculty of Arts Professor Committee and Chairman of the Academic Committee of School of Animation and Digital Art at Communication University of China, Associate Director of China Animation Association, a member of Beijing Folklore Society, researcher at the Art and Design Institute of Chinese National Academy of Arts. Having served as a jury member at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in 2002, Lu participated at the 2006 Annecy International Animated Film Festival in a similar role. He also served as jury member at the Shanghai TV Festival in 2010 while acting in a similar role at the 2011 Asian SIGGRAPH. Lu attended the Asian Rainbow TV Awards in Hong Kong as a jury member in 2014 while serving a similar role at the China (Beijing) International Student Animation Festival in 2014 and 2015. Lu was a jury member at Beijing Design Week in 2015.
His most notable works to date include the “Little Butt Episode” outdoor advertising campaign for Nippon Paint in 2000, the promotional animation for the 2008 Beijing Olympic mascot, the promotional animation for the 2008 Beijing Paralympics mascot and the official promotional video for the one year countdown to the 2008 Beijing Olympic. He also directed animation film “Wall – To my mother”in 2006 while producing mural painting”Pleasant Four Seasons”for Beijing Metro in 2012. Lu was the mastermind of sculpture“Anticipation”at the Martyr’s Cemetery Memorial Square in 2014.
